Tilda Quilt & Cushion

Its been a very Windy, stormy day here in Perth, with thunderstorms, hail & heavy rain. Perfect weather for going into my sewing space and finishing off a few projects on the go. I guess we all got quiet a few of them!

First I have been putting together a quilt made entirely from Tilda Fabric. I am half way through putting the rows on, so hope to have this complete by the end of the day.

I have loved working with these fabrics, so pretty and fresh looking.
With the leftover fabrics I have run up a cushion with hexagons done on the machine

These are pieced hexagons and pieced in rows.

You can find the pattern for these machine hexagons here Lovely Little Handmades

I have also been doing another little project inspired from another blog.

This is a very cute little project to do and I am currently hand quilting around the centre and then around the Dresden. You can find the pattern for this here Nanna Company Free Patter.

I am back to full time work as off tomorrow :( but I will still find time to finish all my UFO's I have on the go  as I am going to need the therapy in the evenings and weekends of stitching time.

                                          Until next time

Progress with Medallion Quilt

Well I am starting to get somewhere with this Medallion Quilt, I've put the borders on and am now starting to applique the little hexagons around the border and also add the centre borders design which I am not that pleased with and not sure I like it, but I will carry on till it's all Appliqued on and decide from there.
This is the Centre medallion before I added the borders.

Took me ages to make up my mind on the outer borders so my husband stepped in and helped me choose the Lime Green inner boarder.

Starting to add the applique hexagons around the boarder and inner boarders. As I said before I am  not quiet sure about the inner boarder ones but will have to wait till I have them all on before I decide to take them off.

While hubby was fishing I took my piecing down with me to stitch some more while he relaxed.

Below is my handy carry all that I have all my hand piecing in and all the tools I need to complete.

Happy piecing away while the weather stayed nice..for now.
But then the weather started to turn and did not look at all pleasant.

So we headed off home with no fish to enjoy but plenty of little hexagons pieced for me to Applique later tonight.

Hugs

Latest Projects

Well I have been a busy bee of late, trying to get some UFO's out the way. Because I do a lot of hand piecing this is proving to be very timely on seeing anything finished on time, so I decided to run up a couple of quilts just to get me enthusiastic again with my sewing.

This Rag quilt I run up over a weekend, enjoyed making this very much as we had some cold weather in Perth and it was nice to have something warm on my lap whilst sewing

The Cat also thought this was worthy of a new home for her with the sun coming in the window and a nice new snuggly blanket. She looked soo comfy that I could not finish cutting the seams for the shaggy affect, will have to wait till she moves. :)

Today I have just about finished a UFO I started early in the year but got pushed aside for other projects. This was made from a Jelly Roll & some fabric from my stash for the cream fabric

Finished putting together now for the borders to go on

Next I have been doing some Paper Piecing from the new Brigitte Giblin Book " Feathering the Nest with Vintage inspired quilts"
I have started the Norfold Island Quilt and so far this is as far as I have got, very small hexagons make up the centre of the medallion...Slow process, but an enjoyable one as its nice to have a change to do a pattern with the hexagons.

I spent the weekend an hour from Perth at an apartment in Mandurah. My hubby had a darts competition so I thougth this would be a perfect time to get stuck into doing some more medallions while he played darts.

This is the view I had on the first day, with lovely weather  to stitch too.

But the second day the skys opened up and it was inside off the balcony and in front of the TV

Until next time, I am back to my Studio to finish some more UFO's
Until next time for more show & Tell

Love of Tilda

Oh My..I've just brought a whole pile of Tilda fabric and love, love , love it. Had to restrain myself a bit from buying the whole range but almost :)

These lovely light mauve & light green fabrics along with the mauve pom pom braid are going to make a very special cushion, (watch this space)
I just love this fabric range so much, cant wait to start cutting, think I may just do 5" squares so I can showcase all the fabric to its best :)

Off to the sewing studio to start cutting.

Love of Hexagons

My love of Hexagons continues with the start of another Hexagon quilt. This time I am making the lovely quilt from the New Brigitte Giblin Book "Feather the Nest" Vintage inspired quilts.
This is the quilt I am attempting to complete

My progress so far, love the way the hexagons interchange with each other.

With a little help from this wonderful machine I have got all my hexagons cut out in next to no time, normally it would take me aday to cut out hexagons but these only took me 30 mins to cut the whole lot.
This is such a time saving device. I absolutely am in love with this Die Cutter. Would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to save time on cutting out tiny little hexagons. I also have die cutter templates for leaves and circles. Watch this space as I experiment more with new ideas using this wonderful tool.

Until Next time, I am off to stitch some mory Hexagons!

Cath Kidston Crochet Cushion

Well I have finally completed the little Crochet Cushion that comes in the lovely little Cath Kidston Tin.
I must admit though it was very tedious as the wool was not the best quality and I was dissapointed that they do not supply enough wool to finish off the cushion. I had to use some from my stash to finish the border.
Anyway I am happy with it and its sitting nicely in my chair to be admired and brighten up the house

So now another project finished and plenty more to keep completing, but oh so nice when you do complete something even if it is a quick little project the satisfaction of just completing something is what counts.

Happy Days everyone

Chic Dresdens

Back to my normal colours again and making a little wall hanging for my entry with Cath Kidson and some Vintage fabrics in a Dresden Plate design.

I was going to put the blue Polka Dot fabric for the centres but I want to give this a warm look so I will be at my local quilt shop tomorow to find a soft pink for the centres.
Pretty happy with how fast they were to put together as I remember 20 odd years ago doing the same design with templates and hand sewing them all together. This took 2 afternoons so I recommend for a speedy project.
You can find instructions to piecing here Bunny Hill who also run a Scrappy Plate Club.

Enjoy
